The Nord Stream pipeline sabotage, explained
“European and NATO officials are blaming sabotage for three leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 undersea pipelines running from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea.” Seismologists explain that leaks are caused by underwater explosions.
With winter approaching and concern around the conflict with Russia, energy security across Europe is held in question.
The leaks are a reminder of how precarious the energy situation is right now in Europe and globally.
Google appears to have disabled Google Translate in parts of China
Google translate was disabled in parts of mainland China, users were redirected to Hong Kong’s landing page instead.
A Google spokesperson stated that the discontinued service of Google Translate in parts of mainland China were “due to low usage”.
Google has a complicated history with China, including government censorship rules, state-sponsored hacks, and government ordered blocks.
